Meet Alicia:

I have 3 beautiful children. About 1 year after having my second baby I realized I had postpartum depression. My husband had a job change and we moved in with his parents, and long story short, there were 11 of us living in one house with 5 kids under the age of 6.  At that time I was also finishing my last semester for my degree in Health Science, and got my first job as an (almost) college graduate. I learned a lot from my first “big girl job” and I loved having something for me. But I was racked with the dreaded mom guilt. I was gone from my babies more than I wanted to be and I missed them terribly. I was torn between the need to take care of my family, and the need to take care of myself. Add in the fact that I still had my “postpartum body” and I was not happy with the way I looked. So I started Insanity with Shaun T. Let me tell you, it really is insane and I know now that it was NOT the best option for my postpartum body. But it helped me take back control, to gain self confidence, and to take care of myself. It started as a stress outlet and exercise has remained a stress outlet.

That time in my life is what started my journey to where I am now. I needed to take my life back again and at that point in time, working out was the solution. After completing the Insanity program I joined my first group fitness class, which I absolutely loved and started teaching group fitness classes for a couple of years. Then I had my 3rd baby and started the postpartum process all over again. I naively thought that being a fitness instructor would help me bounce back and recover faster (fun fact, it took about 2 years for my body to fully heal). I was exhausted and like many moms, giving everything I had to everyone but me. 6 months after having my baby I started seeing a chiropractor and physical therapist and was told I couldn’t exercise until I healed more fully. As a fitness professional and enthusiast that was extremely devastating. Cue Corona virus and as we all know, Corona virus is its own heaping ball of stress.

I found myself, yet again, feeling like I had no control of my life. I hated the way I looked in the mirror. I was exhausted, stressed beyond measure, and eating a bowl of ice cream and WAY to many dill pickle chips while binge watching Netflix EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I had no drive, no ambition, and no goals.

All of that led me to become a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor and nutrition expert. I figured since I couldn’t work out I would dial in on my eating habits and start from there. What I ate seemed to be the only thing I could control. I started by taking some basic nutrition classes for fun and then decided I wanted to be more serious and become a certified nutrition expert. This is when I founded Creating Happy Healthy Habits. After being cleared to exercise I started taking on personal training clients, and now that Covid restrictions are easing back, I have started a group fitness class specifically for moms.

I started this business because I want to help. I want to help women who feel like they have no options, no idea where to go or how to start, and no support. Girl, you are not alone! I know exactly how you feel and I am here to help you. You have options, I can help you start from where you are, and I am here to support you. I know how it feels to struggle with being happy and healthy. I know how difficult that is, and I don’t want you to go through it alone. We all go through different stages in life. We have ups and downs, highs and lows. I assume that since you are still reading this, you want help. You are at a stage in your life that you don't like. Just like I was. We all go through different stages. What I want you to realize is that you aren’t stuck in this stage. You have the opportunity to choose. Choose to create happy healthy habits and choose to get up, find someone who can help you get unstuck and put in the hard work needed to get out of your rut. You are not alone, and you don't have to do it alone.
